I think the differences are as follows:
1 disc drive instead of two, so you can't have both a nav disc and a CD in at the same time. you either keep a map disc in at all times and use the radio, or a CD changer, or I think you can calculate a route and then take the disc out and put a music CD in, and it'll "remember" the route. 4:3 display, instead of the widescreen display that the professional nav has, so no splitscreen viewing mode. early business nav systems only supported the arrow display, with no moving map display. I think that later business systems allowed a choice between arrow view and moving map view I think that business nav doesn't come with voice activation. not sure about other differences. dave |

Business nav is not the business. Spend the dough & go with Pro.

![]() The car he's looking at is an 08 318d Edition MSport, they chucked in Bus Nav, Bluetooth, 18" BBS Alloys and Leather. This is all for just shy of £20k |

Looks gash though, the I-drive/Nav screen looks really good in the dash.

Yes agreed the tomtom doesn't look as good but you get a better system for £200 and unless you need it all the time (I don't) having it stck to the dash for a few hours isn't the end of the world.
On the plus side the BM system seems alot better than the command system fitted to the wifes car, even upgraded to the latest dvd it is still pants. J. |

I like the look of the dash with Nav, it looks expensive and cool. You also have so much you can do with it. So its not just a Nav system. Its the whole caboodle.

Totally agree. Without it the dash looks empty.

I have to say I wouldn't pay £2k for it, my used 1er came with it and I suppose I paid a bit more that the equivalent car without it, had I bought new I'd have left it off the list.

I just don't need all that extra stuff and I do find that on the few occasions I need a nav system my wife's TomTom or Route66 (which I have on my mobile) are great and I can use them in any car or walking around town - especially Route66 on my mobile - 60 quid for Western European navigation, a bit cheaper than BMW!

Also...I don't believe the stories about cars being hard to shift without satnav. If you look at leasing you find that a very few extras are good value as they cost-in improved residuals, on BMWs this includes auto and leather. It does not include satnav The days of in-built satnav are seriously numbered, this is why BMW are pushing i-drive with it so they cross-subsidise each other. The problem is that due to model development times the satnavs from the carmakers whilst having big screens, are not the best functionally. In addition you don't need a big screen for a nav system as you can't take in all the info when driving....£2,000 vs £60.....

Plus you can do everything on that list bar the satnav and internet without i-Drive, if you have Bluetooth and Prof Audio.
The new HD i-drive does look great, but £2k? Do me a favour.

The right colour and leather were to two most important 3 series extra's which made a difference on residuals, is what I was told.
