This should put to bed the odd complaints about the brakes. The car brakes just fine.

It's not about inability to brake. Anything with brakes strong enough to lock up the wheels is able to brake as hard as the tires will allow. The problem is brake feel.

(I didn't watch the video, but I know the format of these videos. I assume it tied the M2 in the brake test?)

Such a one dimensional and silly comparison to do simple drag races. This is why automotive videos and media have rendered themselves obsolete and irrelevant.

The 240 beat it slightly. The lack of brake fade on the m2c will definitely be noticeable if repeated.

Agreed. These are simple metrics that are useful as benchmarks. I like to know quarter mile times, lateral g, slalom times and a couple of other metrics just to get a sense of what a car can do.

And I bet a lot more people do spirited sprints from stoplights than race on a track, so there's that.

At least it provides a nice comparison of the rear end. I'm glad to see they cleaned up the silver exhaust box but everything else to me seems like a downgrade.

What would be the relevant comparison? Lap times? Or which one gives the “enthusiast” a rod?

Gotta say, I find this more entertaining than some dude waxing on and on and on about how X is “a love letter to motoring” and not forgetting to say “proper manual.” That’s the kind of cliche bullshit that I would label irrelevant. Next time I hear “but is it a real X” I’m jumping off a building

Lol. When the review is subjective and has critical comments members hate the reviewer. When it's objective and their car loses the test are pointless. It's just human nature I guess.

The M240i beat the M2 Comp in this test by a small margin.

Feel is obviously subjective. I've put on a bunch of miles on mine and I have no issues with the brake feel. I'm more concerned with actual braking performance, and it's clear the G42 doesn't have any issues there.

This makes the rear end of the new 2er look so weird in comparison.

The solution is not as simple as one thinks because even lap times are prone to variables the are used to qualify the results.

For example, different drivers, different tires, different days, different track conditions, total number of laps driven, options in the cars, condition of the tires and brakes, hidden modifications, ringers, perceived driver errors, etc. may be used to invalidate results.

I may be biased, but M2 competition looks such a beautiful car comparatively. Such an eye candy.

Makes the whole car look weird. The new 2 isn't "ugly" it's just so proportionally off it's very odd to look at. Wouldn't call it good looking

I've actually found the G42 design to be attractive overall, but certainly quirky in parts. This side-by-side really shows which model looks clean and timeless, and which one is a bunch of weirdness thrown together.
