Port Injection MPG?
Hey all,
I have been wanting to build a high-horsepower 335i for about 3 years now. I just bought one a couple months ago and I have been really considering throwing some pure 600s on it (with supporting mods of course) but I noticed that almost all high-horsepower builds have port injection. I know that any high power n54 is no prius when it comes to mileage but I wonder what some of yall get?

Wouldn't have paid for all the dumb shit that breaks on this car if it wasn't for how great it drives.

Port injection only operates when you are smashing the pedal , so its design is to provide more fuel for more power. The opposite of fuel ecconomy.
However, it doesnt operate at all when cruising, so has no negative effect at all, since it adds zero fuel in that instance. Summary- no impact to cruising fuel ecconomy. On boost more power and more fuel used to make it. |

On pump gas, you'd get normal mileage when you're not flogging it, I'd assume.
The big advantage of port injection is the ability to run straight e85, which definitely lowers your MPG (but e85 burns cleaner and costs less). I average 14mpg with normal driving on straight e85. |

I don't yet have PI but on RB Twos (very close to Pure 600s) I get the same if not better than stock (20mpg city, 30mpg hwy), and PI won't even activate until you are in boost. So expect something like that

The PI should only add when fueling when you are hard on the throttle....big hp takes big fuel. You don't mod a car if you want MPG.
Wait until you start running an e85 tune and start getting 12mpg

If we drive like a granny we can can get ok mpg, but like you said that defeats the point of modding, which means PI is gonna increase fuel consumption, lower mpg because most people will be ripping it more often. |
