Does anyone NOT believe in aliens?

I’m interested in why considering there are more stars and planets than grains of sand on the Earth.

I personally have never met anyone that didn’t but some of you must be out there…anyone?

I face a real dichotomy… I totally believe that some of the stuff that we’re seeing in the sky is extraterrestrial, but then again I also believe that it’s virtually impossible to go faster than the speed of light and everything is so far away I can understand why we really haven’t been visited….So I’m in a quandary

https://time.com/alien-life/

The Milky Way has around 100 billion (1011) star systems that could conceivably host intelligent life under our current assumptions. An estimate of 100,000 (105) active civilizations in the galaxy would mean one per million star systems. At the exponential rate of growth in signal processing, researchers will have examined one million candidates by around 2034, bringing the odds of a discovery into the probable. Adding or removing a zero from the estimate of the number of civilizations out there merely adds or subtracts six years from the estimate, respectively, since that's how long it takes to expand our search proportionally. See you in 2040, aliens.

If they are living among us, I'd suggest starting the search for ET at Wal-Mart.....

If there were ever a time for them to show up and fuck our shit up, or usher humanity into a new Age of Enlightenment, now would be a good time. Either way, let’s get it over with.

Definitely some weird beings there but if you're looking for a higher intelligence...

Definitely some aliens there, but not the extraterrestrial ones.

I for one don't believe in aliens. And if I'm proven wrong, oh well, I don't think it's going to shake me up too much.

How could you not? There are 10,000 more stars for every grain of sand on Earth. And you think we're the only one's? That makes 0 sense

Probably the same reason why some people don’t believe in dinosaurs even though there are fossils of them.

Do you sit and watch ants? Do you Dig holes to see how their colonies are built? Etc. Etc.

Apply the same to alien life and humans. We haven't done anything significant to them so they have no interest in visiting us. until we accomplish something that invades their bubble we won't know if they are real.

I would say the highest odds for life would be closest to the center of the big bang. Odds are that was formed first thus would have more time to develop life and a higher quantity of all the ingredients requires; vs say something at the outer edge of the Universe (or galaxy for that matter).

the universe is brimming with life,
life isnt a cosmic accident, life was created by God

why would God create a vast universe and just decide to just choose one planet to create life and nowhere else?

isnt the very argument that "angels" exist, would essentially be ALIENS?

I don’t believe in aliens. Then again… I don’t believe in dinosaurs, outer space, or, the Big Bang theory either. So, I’m probably not the one you want to hear from.

Lmao.

Government agencies are toning it down as it would cause widespread panic if they confirmed aliens are out there.

A childhood friend - who grew up to be a physicist at SLAC - his father was an engineer at Lockheed and for most of his life, was trying to finance an antigravity experiment, to prove or disprove a theory he had about how aliens could travel such great distances at incomprehensible speeds. Never did pull it off. But my buddy's brother continued the efforts at some point. Fascinating stuff.

I've been to a fair amount of deserts and many beaches. The Sahara alone has a lot of sand… as does the vast sea floor. 10k more stars for every grain of sand is beyond staggering to consider.

Don't believe in aliens or that there is anything remotely resembling anything we would consider 'life' beyond where man or earthly creatures can travel.

Also believe we on earth will always lack the science to explain how the universe began - that we are always destined to be ignorant of certain things.

For the past thousand's of years any kind of God worship idolatry was strictly made-up by us or our ancestors

And this is why we humans and fellow living creatures are so amazing. Why modern man is so miraculous, that we are as wonderful and fascinating as the universe.

I was considered a "resident alien" until I got my citizenship some 20 years ago. Does that count?

The question is always asked why we haven't been visited if there is intelligent life elsewhere, but we also view aliens as humanlike and have evolved like humans have on Earth. For all we know there could be a planets of alien doglike creatures unable to evolve and advance as we have.

I find it unrealistic to think that Earth has the only life. Everyone I have met that does not believe in aliens says the existence or discovery of aliens would mean God was not real. But I also find religion and the belief in God unrealistic so

It actually really bums me out I will likely not live long enough to find out. I it's likely I'll see people on Mars and possibly further out, but I'll be long dead before we leave this solar system.

What evidence do I have? None. Could there be? Sure, I suppose. But I don't believe there are because I don't have any evidence of them. And I don't see any reason to have a faith based approach to them. Like I said (probably won't be in my lifetime anyways), if somewhere down the road we discover there are aliens, then fine. Not going to impact me too much I don't think either way. But you ask which side I'm on - right now it is that they don't exist because of the lack of evidence for them.

Well...that makes zero sense - what's the correlation there? On one hand, we have fossils which would form sort of "evidence" wouldn't it? On the other hand, we have no evidence. You are going to have to help me with this giant leap you've made to correlate the two.

Depends what you mean by Aliens… life on other planets or little gray men in flying aluminum discs that probe cow’s butts.

“Life” I am fairly certain is everywhere in the universe, pretty sure we are going to find it on Titan in the next few years when that mission kicks off. Now how much of that “life” made the leap to “intelligent life”, that’s the what’s hard to figure out.

If anyone who believes in science, math, probability and is not blinded by religious beliefs would be handed the numbers of unmeasurable trillions of galaxies with billions of solar systems in each, with billions of stars, with many potential planets will realize the numbers are exponentially unimaginable to humans.. our brain can’t handle understanding that number. Then given the one simple proof of our own existence that someone really has no choice but to accept the probability there is both life and intelligence life spread across the universe… but beyond us on Earth and using probability there is little facts or proof.

I am intrigued but not certain that little gray men are visiting us. Because there is little proof so far, I think most the sightings are oddities and most likely human and natural creations we can’t explain. But I love me some good blurry tic tac videos! It’s at least not enough to convince me just yet they are “here”

The more I learn about advanced Artificial Intelligence, the more I realize that the likelihood of biological bodies traveling across space decreases, and space travel could most likely be done by AI in mechanical form which is unaffected by conditions of space and radiation, while biological humans stay behind on earth or we reside within our solar system. That leads me to think that likely any Alien civilizations in space travel to visit us will also be AI and not biological, so we would encounter potential visitors but not as biological creatures.

I will share the most compelling argument I ever heard that gives weight behind us being alone in the universe. The universe is 14 Billion years old, it’s likely created by a big bang and it’s expanding, it took like 9 billion years just to form from energy into actual objects like stars and galaxies and planets. So the universes ability to sustain life is only a few billion years old no matter where you are in the universe. Life is likely everywhere but it’s highly probably that human level intelligent life is a rare 1 in billions of billions chance of occurring, now factor in the harshness of extinction and survivability that intelligent life takes 100 million years to develop and that planet must encounter zero disruption events… then continue on for millions more to go from the wheel to having civilized faster than light space travel… the odds get pretty darn low of making it this far…. And lastly, if the window for intelligent life is fairly small and the universe only around a few billion years… someone had to be first… could we literally be the first to make it this far?
