Are Car Service discount cards legit?

My independent car servicer frequently sends me discount cards in the mail. It seems okay until I read the fine print: "Must be presented at beginning of appointment."

I'm thinking, well, okay. But the evil side of me thinks they just add the discount onto my service charges.

I dunno why they bother w BS like that, just like
those '$xxx off your next car purchase' deals. For sure it won't work the way it's supposed to.
