E9x M3 manual steering wheel

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Item Interest
Up for sale is a freshly refinished E9x M3 steering wheel. This is from a manual car, no paddle shifter holes. I purchased the wheel as a project with cracks/wear and successfully brought it back to life. The leather was deep cleaned and conditioned with Leatherique followed by removing defects and a re-dye with Colourlock BMW black. The end result is a beautiful wheel that looks brand new.

Looking for $250 OBO plus shipping. Located in Richmond, VA for local pick up.

Shipping should be roughly $25-30 east coast, $40 west coast.

Great job! Looks brand new! How did your prevent the stitching from absorbing dye?

Thanks! I was very careful to not touch the dye sponge to any of the stitching to avoid turning any of it black. This is the 2nd wheel I’ve done so I had some practice with the one that ended up in my 128i.

Steering Wheel

I will second your work. I don't know what you started with, but that leather looks fantastic. Did you do a write-up on your process?

Thanks! Didn’t take many pictures this time but if I do another I’ll consider a write up. The basic process is I lightly sanded down the leather to remove imperfections starting with 800 and worked up to 1500 and then a Colourlock buffing foam. Hit it with a couple coats of dye per the Colourlock directions then buff again and dye again until I get the desired finish.

Appreciate the offer but not willing to go that low. I've dropped the price to $250 plus shipping (shipping should be roughly $25-30 east coast, $40 west coast).
