trying to re-install stock intake HELP!

I'm going into the dealer tomorrow so i'm reverting back to stock. I just spent 30 min trying to get the goddamn intake housing pipes to fit into the plastic tubes. They're basically the same size and i just cant get it to fit.

Can anyone give me any suggestions? I tried heating the tubes but that doesnt help either. there's no give at ALL!

i'm about to drive this car off a cliff!...or just drive it into the dealer with my dual cones

The intake tubes should slip right over the the pipes on the airbox without any real effort. Just loosen the hose clamps up a lot so they rotate freely. Mount the airbox on top of the intake manifold (it will "click" down) and pull the intake tubes up over the airbox pipes as if you were putting on socks. Shouldn't have to do anything more than that. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

I specifically asked my SA what would happen if I came in with aftermarket intake and he said nothing. As long as I don't come in with an issue that can be blamed on aftermarket intake. I figure I'll leave it in. That is, when I get one. What are you going in for?

My dealership was 100% fine with me having an intake. You do not need to take it off. I even asked before installing it and they said "No worries, just don't tune it."

Wonder if the couplers are still in place?

The metal tubes that slide into your cone filter and the intake tube.

Since the intake hose is made of Plastic, it shrinks a little when you install a cone filter. Atleast that was the case with mine.

Just use some KY and it should slip right on.

I had the same issue as the OP.
The problem is that when installing aftermarket pipes into the OEM tubing, the tubing crimps up a bit when tightening the clamps down.

You don't realize this is happening since it's so slight, but since the OEM box piping fits so perfectly into the stock tubing then you will have somewhat of an issue trying to fit it back on if the tubing is crimped just a bit.

I had the AFE on for a while and when going back to stock, it was really hard to get the tubing over the pipes.

I got a heat gun and heated up the tubing quite a bit. This helped a lot.
I know you tried doing this but try to do it again but heat up the tubing more and more so it fits over the piping.

I honestly think that a lot of people are going to have this issue if they go back to the stock box at one point in time.
BTW, oil, wd40 and other lubs did not work.
The heat was the best option.

I just had the same problem two days ago and decided put AFE back in...The stock tubing wont go in like its kinda short. The piping towards the inside of the car is not easy to get your hand in either. I had a hard time and just put he AFE back in. Gotta wait till my other intake comes to change it.

I had the same issue last night. Do the rear tube first then the front tube. It will be a tight fit. You will have to muscle it back on. I grabbed one end of the box and grabbed the intake pipes and squeezed them together.

exactly what mr.5 said. i have an AFE intake and since the plastic runner is smaller than the stocker you have to tighten the clamp alot more than the stock one which after time seems to sorta mold into the new, smaller diameter. first, i thought it was like what shiv said, but i soon realized after having the clamp totally off the pipe it was still being a bastard.
i dont have a heat gun so i wasn't as fortunate as mr.5. took me an hr or so to force her back in..what i did was focus on the back first and had one hand holding the rear tube and the other shoving the stocker back in it, then put the front one sorta in and pushed it on the manifold posts then forced the rest in. PITA, but it worked...im not putting the stocker back in period...

teri

ps...i stood on the drivers side while doing this and take the AC filter cover stuff off...it will help alot!
