$10,000,000.00 for a 38 year old who is going to play half the season? Come on Mats, take off the ski mask, you're robbing the Canucks!!
I dont think if the Canucks added Ovechkin they'd have a shot at winning the cup this year. Wings repeat!! |

I am a leafs fan. I liked the guy when he was in TO and had a lot of respect for him laat year. After all that talk about wanted to be a leaf and not want to be a rental player. This is what he has done.
I just can't stand the guy. Btw I have a limited edition Sundin signed Photo with the net from his 500th goal....any one wants it ?????? |

it's 10m for a year contract. But since there is only half a season left, he get pays net 5.8m, which include signing fees.
They might pay him a high signing fees, so they can get more cap to sign another top foward |

From ESPN: Sundin's contract was still being finalized Thursday night but sources tell ESPN.com it will be worth around $5 million -- $4 million in a signing bonus and $1 million in take-home salary for the rest of the season. The salary cap hit to Vancouver will be around $5 million.
The Canucks have the space to try to get a good player later in the season. It also means that Sundin did not choose Vancouver just for the money as he was willing to take less than the original offer for Gillis to build a competitive team.

Mats F-ing Sundin,
That's right, with room to spare for a 5-6 million dollar defenceman or winger. this is sick, anyone else on here a season ticket holder? or a true fan, not just a talk a regular vancouver bandwagoner |

I'm sure this will help ticket sales some more, but let's see how Sundin performs and how his leadership skills will benefit the Canucks. Sick how this dragged out for so long though.

Does continually following them even though I moved to Toronto 10 years ago and catching a game every time I'm back to Vancouver count?

I'm not a fan of him but I'll keep my negative remarks to myself until I see how he fits in.
I would hate for this to be messier all over again. |

Love him or hate him it's hard not to respect what he did for the leafs in his years there. The Leafs are pathetically bad (and yes, I am a fan); anyone that can endure 13 years in that organization deserves a medal. I hope he flourishes with the Canucks.

Mark Messier was a prick who stripped the captaincy away from Trevor Linden and ruined the team. This isn't Messier Part two, that guy is the worse player Vancouver ever brought in, totally garbage!
The Leafs suck straight up, not cause I hate the Leafs, but because it's true, they've had bad players, and bad management, and yes worse than Vancouver over all those years, and Toronto is not the centre of the Universe, just they think they are the centre of Canada, which they can but have the worse team in Canada and the gayest fans as well No offense to all my buddies in Toronto, but seriously Leafs are headed for the Brian Burke era that Vancouver has. If Toronto wins a cup before any other canadian team please shoot me. |

Although the Canucks suck for many years, at least if you hit rock bottom you get the 1st pick overall or 2nd or 3rd. |

I agree that he deserves something for enduring 13 years here, but they can keep him - I think we are better off without him at this point.
