Not sure if car is previously tuned, can I still tune it if it's tuned?

So I test drove a e92 today and it felt much quicker than the 335i N55 sedan I test drove.

I'm gonna get a pre purchase inspection at a shop before buying one, will they be able to tell if the cars tuned?

My main concern is, if its already been tuned, are there any out there (even custom or OTS tune's) that will prevent me from tuning it?

I wanted use MHD but will it overwrite whatever they have before (IF it's tuned)

The ECU is not locked so you can write whatever you want to it as much as you would like.

Using MHD you should be able to backup what the tune is and restore it later before writing a new tune to the car.
