Windshield Wiper Fluid Reservoir Leak

Over the past snowy week, my wiper fluid has been getting used frequently. Yesterday I noticed a very weak spray indicating I might need a refill. I stopped at the gas station, bought a gallon, and filled 'er up. I noticed a funny thing as the fluid reached the top, the fluid level started going down immediately but slowly. I shrugged it off thinking the design of the reservoir may cause this.

When I got back out onto the road, I had the same thing, weak spray. . When I got home, I had some fluid left over, so I mixed it with some water, and filled it to the top again.... same behavior. What was the red flag for the leak was that the snow falling off underneath my car on the sides was blue.

My question is, is there any susceptible locations where this leak would be? I have a catch can installed and noticed it sits flush next to the opening of the reservoir. Should I uninstall that before taking it into the dealer?

Does anyone know if the reservoir sits close to the ground? To my knowledge I haven't bottomed the car out on anything, but just curious.

Piggyback on the question: anyone know how to drain your WW fluid reservoir? I filled mine up with BMW concentrate and hard water, which is leaving spots; I'd like to drain it out and re-do it with distilled water.

the tank sits in the passenger side front wheel well. Not towards the front bumper where the oil cooler would be, but closer to the the side marker. Mine was leaking once, and i moved the wheel well lining out of the way and noticed the hose going to it was loose. I pushed the hose all the way back in and all was good

I also had a windshield washer fluid leak, but when I took out my fender liner on the passenger side I noticed that it wasn't coming from the reservoir itself that is inside the fender, but instead it was leaking from the filler hose that feeds the reservoir from inside the engine bay. I don't know how the hose got a hole in it, but it had marks like something had rubbed against it. Maybe I accidently hit it while working with the suspension, I don't know.
In any case, I just bought a replacement hose and replaced it, and the problem was solved. You need to take a look inside your fender well and see where the leak is coming from.

I had a washer reservoir leak on my ML Benz, turns out that the heating element that's in there caused accelerated wear on the seal halfway up the tank. Not sure if BMW uses a similar design though.

lol. You guys were right, but it looks like the dealer went through a bit to fix it though. To quote the invoice:

"Checked and found wash fluid not spraying. The motor was not running. Installed new pump. After spraying washer fluid, found hole at the base of the filler tube and leak is gone. W/T for tube."

Anyone know what could have caused that hole? I haven't done any suspension work.

Small woodland creature perhaps? Seriously, it happens.
