How to get rid of clutch smell?
I have a 335xi with snow tires and I got stuck the other day from not having ground clearance.
Anyway, DSC Off, and rocking I went with my 6MT. Now I have this sick sweet smell of clutch in my car....and it has been a week. Suggestions? Thanks.

This response made me
Same as any other smell. Let the car air out first then use a fog type de-oderizer. I would also spray down the carpets with fabreeze or something similar. A power cleaning of the underbody or engine bay might also help remove any left over clutch dust that can cause a smell. Lastly I would replace the interior filter and get a BMW genuine HVAC mold/oder removing fogger to make sure your air system is clear of smells. Good luck.

T-bone When my clutch was fried, it would slip just a bit each time I drove the car. So the "burned clutch" smell was persistent until the clutch was replaced. If your clutch is ok, pop the hood (lower the windows) and aim a fan on the engine overnight. The smell should be gone in the morning.

Bubbles, I am challenged with the fan solution since we are under many feet of snow right now!

It was pretty bad with mine as well after going to the strip, but fortunately, I was able to do some high speed freeway runs afterwards.
I don't think you can do that in the snow.

You're serious? You got stuck because there wasn't enough clearance with the suv xi suspension? The car is a truck, I don't see how that's possible with snow tires. My quattro A4 with snows never once got stuck in 4 years and it was a lot lower the the xi 3er. Then again, xi ain't quattro.
I've been fine clearance wise in my car dropped on kw2's with a lip ..a little plowing never hurt anyone |

Remove your clutch delay valve (lock valve) or replace it with one that has a larger diameter. I got the Zeckhausen for my M Coupe and couldn't be happier.

That has absolutely nothing to do with him slipping his clutch while rocking the vehicle.

kugran is a victim of placebo (an extreme case) who thinks removing his CDV solved world hunger so don't mind him, he's just a little delusional.

Thanks guys, most of the smell is out. I need to wash the garage and the interior. I drove through lots of rain which seems to have cleaned up the underside.
