Both good looking cars. The G87 though is a brute. In a good way.

Indeed. The G42 is an aggressive looking car, but the G87 makes it look restrained in comparison.

They both need a little more wing/tail in the back. I hope with the M2 out now and they use the same trunk lid there will be more aftermarket options.

I find the BMW Performance Part wing a little too big. Would like a round duck tail that goes pretty close to the side of the trunk lid.

This OEM rear spoiler for the G42 will fit the G87 as well.

Really dislike the imdent towards the center. I like an E92 style cf spoiler.

Tag, thanks for putting those perspective pix together. They really show the evolution of the M240i design morphed into the M2. I for one, have liked the aggressive change and stance of the M240i since the beginning, so I would naturally like the design elements of the new M2.

Maybe more something like this? Not as tall as the carbon fiber OEM and goes end to end like this. But more importantly has a gentler slope than OEM that continues with the slope of the trunk lid.

From the rear that carbon fiber tail helps tie in with the gloss black bottom part. And I’d keep the back part of that tail showing carbon fiber.

But I think the top part of the tail I would color match with the body so that looking from front three quarter it looks like it’s one piece with the trunk lid.

Let’s hope for a decent aftermarket options for both cars now that M2 is out. I think shops were losing interest because not many G42 out on the road. Sad Motech sold their M240i and moved on from developing any more.

I may be crazy (just ask my wife), but I think it would look better with a wing than a spoiler. There is a pic somewhere that shows it on the Toronto red car, and I thought it looked killer.

With one of those babies tacked on I think you will never encounter a failure to launch.

I'm thinking the same. Just go all in on the retro vibe

It could. To each their own. I personally wouldn’t mind a small subtle ducktail that I’ve seen for the new Supra if they can add in a curve to the trunk.

Looking at the pic of both cars above from front quarter, that rear just slopes down too deep and begging for a little lift. IMO.

Supras enjoying a more robust aftermarket than the G42.

Damn straight. This design has the pecs, stance and haunches to actually pull it off. And if it pisses off the conservative masses, so be it.

If there is to be a feud might as well make it an epic one...lol.

I do like these. Would work well on the M2. I like when the brackets are mounted wide. The wing is clean and thin. Probably work on the G42 but I just can't see me putting it on lol.

So are the headlights exactly the same?It looks like they just added the vents to the G87 so that G42 headlights would work with the design of the M2 bumper.

If you buy the G87, few would fault you for applying one yourself. It's a full M car badge or not.
