engine failure.. reduced power
hey guys.. been having an issue with my car lately.
Maybe somone on the forum experienced similar issues and can advise before I take the car to the dealership. I have an '07 335 step. Car is stock, except for intake which I've been running for about 6 months. Recently, been getting an engine failure, reduced power warning with half engine light. This doesn't happen when driving relatively fast or doing wot. It has only ever occured when driving slow at around 2-2.5k rpm, accelerating, at very low throttle - maybe 10-15%. Seems to occur in 2nd gear all the time.. maybe 3rd, never higher. After switching off the car and restarting it's back to normal and will not return until the car stands for a while before driving again - at least an hour. If I get to the highway and put foot down, this problem never happens. Any ideas? |

Any other symptoms?
How many miles on your car? Has the HPFP been replaced? Have the spark plugs been changed? Can you hook up a code reader and see if there are any codes stored? If not, can always disconnect the battery overnight and let the ECU reset to see if that will help. Hope its something simple and not too expensive to fix. |

Might be a fuel pump.. but I would definitely make an appointment to the dealer as they can get the stored codes and see whats wrong. I am ssuming the car is under warranty?

the car has 22,000km.
hpfp hasn't been replaced. spark plugs haven't been replaced. only work down on the car was routine oil change and brakes. scanned the car and no code stored, but it can happen at least once per day. whatever needs to be done will be covered under warranty, but if there's no code stored, i doubt these techs are gonna know exactly what to do? therefore posting here incase a memeber on the forum had similar issue. |

Yeah an obd-2 reader wont tell you the fault codes that are stored
You need to scan it with an autologic or GT1 Itll show you exactly what went wrong when the car limped and also the probable cause probably the HPFP... wont happen again, but as the winter goes on itll happen more and more until you just go get it replaced
