E90- 275/35 vs 275/30 rears - Considering VMR710 wheels?

Considering I get VMR 710s in 19"...

Im confused as to the difference in 275/30 vs 275/35 rears. Tire selections are very funny in 19" sizes.

Im hearing that 275 widths on a sedan will not rub. Id like to try the S drives but they only come in 275/35.

What fronts would you run with 275/35? 245/30 or 245/40? Im confused.

I don't believe you will rub with either 275 sizes if you are on stock suspension, all bets are off if you are dropped

The difference between the 275/30 and the 275/35 is how tall the sidewall of the tire is. You will want to stick with the 275/30-19 for a lower profile tire to get less rubbing especially if you wanted a wider tire.

275's can be difficult to put on a sedan, but if you really really wanted that size, then a simple fender roll should do the trick as long as you don't get an M3 offset (normal staggered offset is perfect).

Personally, I stay away from Yokohama, I haven't had the best of experiences with them. Usually going with a Bridgestone or Michelin has always done the best for me. Obviously pricing may be different, but there is always a compromise that we can work out.

With those rear sizes, going with a 235 is absolutely fine up front, if you wanted to go larger to a 245 you might encounter a bit of rubbing here and there.

If you want to chat about it some more, please send me a PM, we can work something out

thats my problem, I wanted to try the S drives. I have had really bad experience with potenzas in the past. The reason I was saynig 275/35 is that is what Sdrives come in.

There is nothing, I am interested in owning on tire racks site in a 255/30/19 or a 265/30/19. Not until 275 width is there anything that catches my interest. Dismal selection at best.

Options in 19" tire sizes SUCK. Im very unhappy with the choices. Its either crap tires or break the bank.

What kind of price range were you looking at. If you want to PM me that I can take a look a what is available and give you your options.

Also what kind of tire really suits your needs. Quiet? Good Traction? Comfortable?

A balance of all three is what Im looking for of course.

I honestly am looking to spend an average of $200 per tire. Rears will be more frots less Im sure but close to that.

I have - on my GTO now BFG Gforce KDW2's. Love these tires, but would never put them on my 330i because of the noise factor. They ROAR badly, but with the borals on my GTO I dont notice it.

I want high performance with good treadwear. And low noise.

The potenzas I have all had completely SUCK for treadwear. The factory tires on my 330I, they suck for treadwear. The SAME tires came factory on mt GTO in non RFT version. I got 10K out of them and they were coned badly.

Ihve had Kuhmos, they have pathetic life and are soft. Had General exclaim uhps on my GTO, for about 200 miles. I hated these tires. Spongy. The BFG's on my GTO were about $180 ea in 245/40/18. Other than the noise they have been the best tires I have ever owned.

Ive looked at the New potenza re760, but bridgestone has shafted me on every tire I have ever owned from them before. It would be really difficult for me to buy a potenza.

Honestly the 19" selection of tires is almost making me change my mind on getting 19's at all.

Yeah it seems like you're extremely picky on tires like myself. I agree 100% on the BF Goodrich, I LOVE that tire, but once it starts to get noisy, it's awful.

If the Bridgestones never came to you're liking, then rule that out, but one tire you may want to look at is the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. We liked them so much we actually put them on our 1 series. The tire is comfortable, the grip is great especially with a good amount of horsepower on the N54 Motor.

Steve, the guy who drives the 1 series says he has the radio on all the time, but not too loud and he doesn't notice any tire roar.

Not liking what people have to say on that one either, reading the reviews.

At this point Im looking at just keeping the stock wheels out of utter disgust at the options in 19" tires.

If the 275/35s are going to rub, than its either Potenza 760's which I have serious reservations about, or nothing. Becasue nothing else is in my price range. Im also very skeptical on alot of these "off" brands like nittos etc. Hell Id be satisfied with 255s as well, but there is simply nothing there to choose from for me. I refuse to compromise on tires, and I also refuse to get raped on them. No Tire is worth $300 to me. Period.

If I cant put tires on it that Im happy with, why spend money on wheels.

I agree. If you don't like your tire options, don't worry about wheels. Hopefully there is a tire out there you find that you really like, and once you do. Let me know, I'll help you out with the V710s

Hmm.. I was thinkin the same thing. I have non sport 330i, I wanted to run 19x10s with a 275 - 30/35 -19 set up in the rear. I was also looking a tire rack and didn't find any good ones in that size. I wanted to get tire rack specifically because of tire insurance.

I think I'm gonna stick with the norm and do a 9.5... especially when getting tires.. and prolly run something like generals

As long as you run proper offsets and widths, a 275 shouldn't be a problem for a pre-facelift sedan. We do 9.5" +33 275 packages all the time, with great results.
