best driving roads in SoCal
sometimes I just want to drive, but huntington beach lacks the exciting roads I've been searching for. I mean, 133 south is about as fun as it gets
so where do you guys go when you want to drive for pleasure?

Carbon canyon is pretty exciting at 60 mph! It's right down the street from my house.

you have to check out the ortega highway. Just go early in the morning or late at night (very dark at night so don't be a fool and speed too much!). It's a great drive.

I'd be interested in a cruise if we actually go on some fun roads. I mean, I've seen pics of some other cruises and they seemed to just be going on regular roads and end up in shopping centers or whatever

Do you guys really think carbon canyon is fun? Theirs maybe one section of the esses where its alright, but other then that, its just a nice scenic 2 lane road to cruise, nothing special at all. I honestly think flying through on/off ramps at night are more entertaining then carbon.

as mentioned in another post, PCH is more for scenic pleasure. At least, the portion of PCH I'm familiar with. I guess I'm looking for twisty roads as opposed to straight ones. I will check out carbon canyon when I have the time! thanks

Some road I went on north of Escondido on the drive up to Valley Center High (from downtown) was pretty rediculous. Pretty twistie, two lanes, night time, 100 mph... IDK what it was called though and only lasted about 10 minutes, at that speed.

I'd say GMR & Azusa Canyon. If you guys go there, I want to tag along with a few other Z's. It's very fun with all the forks and twists.

You take PCH to Pepperdine and then Malibu Canyon Road. Drive for like 2 or so miles to Piuma Canyon Rd (traffic light) and take to wherever you want to go (GPS Helps). You can chose from Stunt Rd, Topenga Canyon, Tuna Canyon (the best rd for go-karts and adventurers), Mulholand, and a few more.
enjoy, aaron

the roads by my house are very fun, probably only because ive been driving them for years, so the familiarity leads to confidence. narrow turns @ 70mph = fun and scary as shit. DTC doesnt account for lateral skidding.... at least not for the turns i'm taking.
look up the roads north and south of hacienda golf course. google maps link: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=3...1,0.04549&z=15 |
