Helmut Marko confirms Daniel Ricciardo for Driver 3 @ Red Bull Racing

https://twitter.com/ESPNF1/status/15...-vvzeu6ojgY6ug

So this is kind of amazing news.

Given what just happened between Max and Checo, even if they are ok - we may see Max + Ric back on the grid together in 2024.

Personally, I'm happy he's back on RBR.

EDIT: Helmut Marko may have withdrawn his statement and this may not be confirmed yet!

I wonder if he will be competitive. He had a decent car but never seemed to have the edge or the will to go for it. Shame

Tough to predict. He did at one point completely dominate Sebastian Vettel.

Not sure which car you are referring to?

The McLaren is a shit box and he won the first race for them in ten years!

The Renault wasn’t much better if at all.

With 20/20 he may well have been better to have stayed at RBR, who knows?

He also did pretty well against Verstappen until the last year where he had all the “mysterious” car failures.

Max had more DNFs than Ric and he was also a kid with barely any formula experience but I agree he did do very well against Max at the time.

I would love this. We can still have him in the paddock and hopefully he can enjoy being a part of a proper championship contending team again, who knows what opportunities 2024+ would hold for him.

Im not going to check but I don’t think you’re right? I do know though in Daniels last year at RBR he had eight DNF’s compared to Verstappen’s four.

Correct. Looks like they were equal once you tally it up. My mistake

I got that feeling too.

Depending on how De Vries does, we may see Nick or Danny in the second seat for 2024.
