How to sync an iphone to the Idrive.
I recently purchased a 2006 325I that comes with a navigation system. I've read the manual plenty of times and still can't figure out how to sync my iphone to the Idrive. I tried going to the setting on my phone and searching for devices and still no luck. Does anyone have any idea how to do it?

Bluetooth isn't turned on by default on the iphone 3g (don't know what you have). Go into settings and turn that on. Then you need to enter a pin number on the phone which you will enter in the idrive during pairing. I assume you know where to find the bluetooth pairing in idrive. By the way this should have been posted in the audio electronics section, not forced induction.

I'm new to the forum world, did not know where my post belonged. I turned on my bluetooth on my phone and did a search. How do you turn on bluethooth on the idrive or how does that work?

I had iDrive in my 330 but not my 335 so I can't walk you through the menus. It would have to be under communication or settings. Has to be an option to pair and it will actively search, then ask you for the pin when it finds the iphone.

2. Once in the main screen select (i) for the Settings menu. 3. Once in the Settings menu select BLUETOOTH. 4. Once in BLUETOOTH select PHONE. 5. Once in PHONE select "Pair new phone". 6. Follow the prompts. |

I just did this yesterday, so I'll see if I can help you out.
On your iphone, go to the settings menu. Click on general. Click on bluetooth. Make sure bluetooth is turned on. Go to the bluetooth menu on idrive. Then the phone submenu. It should be on the screen where you can see the pairing options. Go back to your phone and you should see BMWxxxxx appear, click on this and it will have you enter a 4 digit pin. Then on your idrive, it should recognize the phone. Enter the same 4 digit pin that you entered on your phone. After this is completed, the phone should be paired. Hope that helps. I'm not sitting in my car typing this, so I may have missed a few small steps, but you should get the idea. |

Same issue, can't initiate pairing of a 2nd phone
I have an '06 330 w/ iDrive and in the BT phone menu there is no option to pair a new phone. it's only listing my current phone, no option to pair a second phone. when i select the current phone (blackberry) it offers me the choices of delete, or move up (which doesn't make much sense for a list of one).
If anyone has solved this mystery i would love to know how to add a 2nd phone. |
