$4k in mods?? JB3 is $629 intercooler is $1000-1200 Exhaust is $1100-1500 Could be as low as $2800 in mods. And the exhaust is only worth 10-12 hp so even without it the 335i would of won. And that was with the 6MT car which is a tad slower than 6AT car. Did the M3 have a passenger in it too? If not, the 335i could of won on tune only. But either way, I agree with the others, there's more to an M3 than straight line speed. It's just that it doesn't have enough straight line speed to hang with very lightly modded 335i's |

when i read the title i automatically thought: "oh god... not this $hit again"
no matter how fast you can make a 335, it's still a completely different car then an M3. both have their pros and cons. no i dont wish to make this a M3 vs 335 thread, but i can already see where this is going. |

I'm with the others.
There's nothing like an M3 but the tuned 335i is one hell of a monster.

Very true. The M3 is still in its own league with exceptional top end, but the tuned 335i is no joke. Now, with the transfer of M3 parts to the 335i, the argument of the M3 being a more track friendly car is quite a bit diminished as well. Dropping a couple G's to a fully loaded 335i is definitely more economical choice for day-to-day driving.

M3>Tuned 335i..... End of story.
(coming from a JB3 335i owner)

I'd rather have a 335i and mod it and save a bunch of cash then a fully loaded M3. Its still as fast or even faster than an M3 so go figure.

+1... maybe at the drag strip a JB3 335i is superior... on a big track an M3 is much more capable (bigger, vented brakes, better suspension, LSD, etc.).
