Clifton Car Thieves
So it seems to be the tradition among my BMWs to have my car broken into (or at least attempted to be broken into) in various locales across Jersey. This time the brazen thieves tried to steal my M3 in the Target parking lot in Clifton at about 1:30PM in broad daylight on Dec 31st. Luckily, I happened to walk in on them so they only managed to drill out my lock and scratch up my door a little. Still the total cost to repair what they have done will be $1200. However, I plan on covering up the keyhole this time so it hopefully won't be as attractive in the future. Before anyone asks I was literally gone for 5 minutes.
I gave a description of the vehicle, the individuals, and a partial plate to the police but if anyone is in this area definitely be on the lookout for 3 hispanic males in a beige buick (I think one of the 2000 model years not terribly old) with a blue NJ plate. Chances are that car was probably stolen too. Good way to start off the new year, fortunately I consoled myself by ordering a pulley. stay safe |

well I'd say certain areas of clifton are off limits for me. But this was at the new shopping center that opened up a few years back (AMC Clifton, Stop & Shop, Staples, Target, etc) and lately I'm hearing that car theft is getting worse and worse in that particular place..

that sucks tho dude. I just wonder what they would have stolen?
You cant exactly drive an M3 away without the key, and you certainly cant tow it. Some (insert racial slur) fuckers had big heads and tried to take an M3. Idiots. Hope they get whats coming to them. |

glad you came out in the nick if time. hope these bastards get what's coming to them.
I had my lock popped on my e46 at the palisades mall several years back. fortunately nothing was stolen - the alarm must have scared the thieves away. i would recommend getting a blank keyhole and an alarm installed - definately worth the investment. |

Back when the princeton ski shop was still in business, I ducked in there for a quick visit. Returned to lot (on Rt.3 near Clifton) to see the window of my car smashed. You can imagine the feeling.
(It was a cold night, and my jacket was stolen, so the drive was miserable. To top it off I sat on glass bits on my drive home. Grrr) |

Wow, I go to Clifton Commons all the time, either for a movie or dinner. I always see the police around. I guess I'm never leaving my car around there. I have too much stupid stuff they can steal inside my car.
Did they park their car right next to yours? |

I parked my car next to an island to keep one side of the car safe. I had parked it in such a way that the drivers side door was facing the store so they were easy to spot as they failed to enter my car. I knew something was up when I saw them park behind me because the spot opposite to my car was taken. I think they go around stealing stuff out of peoples cars and possibly the car itself if its easy enough. Anyway, after years of complacency my senses are heightened due to the event. |

im not suprised...i live in clifton as well and two years ago in the summer my mother and siblings went on vacation. we had a bmw x5 and a 530i. while my father and i were at work they broke into the house and stole the x5 after they broke into the house. we went to the dealer and told them to change the keys for the 530i and they told us that they did. but we found out one day that the idiots at the dealer didnt do crap and the thieves also stole the 530i. in a week we had 2 cars stolen from our very own driveway in clifton. the x5 was gone because it didnt have a tracking system in it as it was a 2004 but the 530i was found with the guys sitting in it a few miles away in a couple of hours. the guys somehow got out with probation and a restraint order to our house. clifton cops dont really give a damn about your car.
