Bussinnes vs. Professional
Hi all, iīve got some basic Bussinnes radio in my E92 - i īm really not satisfied with SQ in my car so i would like to upgrade little bit, but iīve like to stick with OEM (or mostly OEM stuff. So i wanna ask whatīs the difference between Buss and Pro Head Units? Does it affect sound quality? I would like to upgrade to BSW stage I at the time and likely to install aftermarket amp+sub in the trunk - where is another question - where to get signals for amp at the trunk? I donīt think there is some oem amp - could i take signal from rear repros? Really donīt want to disambly all car for wires from radio..
So question is - whats the difference betweens stock Bussinnes and Professional units, is the BSW stage I worth 600 bucks - and shall it work ok with stock unit (Bus or Pro), can i get signal for aftermarket amp from rear repros? Thanks guys.. |

No one knows difference between those HU? And where to get signal for amp in trunk? Didnīt found any OEM amp there but iīve found two little "woofers" under the seats.. Theyīve got to be amped from something not?

American cars have not Business radio, so here you won't find a lot of help. However there are members from other countries where the basic stereo includes the Business headunit and no amp, as me.
The differences are basicaly that the Professional can read MP3, displays OBC information, is Alpine brand, and has a better radio reception, as far as I know. However, the wattage and maybe quality are the same. Regards |

Don't change the HU - add speakers and an amp
I wouldn't change the HU.
I have the same setup as (I believe), which is the two woofers under the seats and just the 4" full range driver in the doors. I will replace the 4" in the door with component (I bought DLS R4) and then add an amp. My amp will most likely be Focal solid 4 so that I can run the two woofers on a dedicated channel. Some people also replace the woofers with Earthquake SWS-8 which can be made to fit. Have a look at the following threads: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182752 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179908 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136594 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157820 |

Iīve been to my car hifi euthanist friend yesterday to plan install and here is the resolution.. I would like radio to keep OEM at least so we are going to connect amps to system via Helix AFC Hi/Low adapter, - one 2ch hifonics 2x100W for front components - which will be Audio System X-ION 3W http://www.shop.doronel.cz/store/goods-$00000952$00000001-262-audio-system--xion-200-bmw.html - 8" midbass instead original woofer, 4" middle into doors and addon tweeters.
Then Hifonics mono and probably Alpine sub into trunk.. I like this setup, but donīt like the wiring which will be necessary but at least this install wonīt requiere any kind of cutting, drilling etc So you guys think there is no need to upgrade HU to prof one? There were one on de ebay yesterday, auction ended on 200E.. Maybe at time iīm going for it anyway, i like that it is ///Alpine make |

If you decide to buy a Professional HU, don't buy an American one, buy an European one, or you could have problems with radio reception. However, Europeans are more expensive.
Regards P.S.: I think the stuff you're gonna install will work great |
