2006 330i e90

Hey guys, need opinion on this if it’s worth a rebuild of not , I have a n52b30a and I wanna rebuild instead of getting a junk yard motor and running into the same issues I had before this motor jumped timing and sprocket broke and I will try to post pictures of the situation. I stripped the motor down to the block and only left the bottom end assembly I have a bmw 330i 2006 and the motor had 120k mile I never really had problems w the car till the timing issue had occurred some say throw it out but I genuinely love my 330i and it might not be the fastest but I don’t want to go get a 335i lol what are ur opinions on such matter? I’ll post pics also

I had e90 330i and my cousing has it now. It’s a great car! I can argue it’s better than 335 for enthusiasts.

Seems like you like the car so fix it and you will know exactly it’s been done properly. I would do the same.

Post pics and updates, and get her back on the road!

A typical 330i is only worth about $3500 to those who don’t know. I spent over $8000 refreshing mine with new suspension, gaskets, radiator, tune up, starter, etc, at 130,000 miles (still original clutch). I love the 330i! I say fix it and keep it!

As an owner with the same motor (2007 E90 328xi) with about 130,000 miles is there anything you can advise us to to do to prevent your mishap? There are obviously motors with greater milage out there.

I would agree with the other responses that the drivetrain is lovely and the platform solid. The car has a nice level of sophistication without the next level of computer and manufacturing complexity. Just compare the price of things like headlights between the earlier and LCI E90 versions.

I hope to keep mine to the 30 year mark if possible. Your comments may help me do so.
