Last day of seat Sales @ Aircanada

Today is the last day to book to fly on Aircanada and save a bundle.
It only cost me $1101 incl taxes to fly Direct to HK in March for 2 weeks. It cost the same in US dollar to fly on UA so it's a no brainer for me. You could save another $50 if you fly on a weekday.

They also offer discount to fly to other sun destinations as well.

Cheers.

But it still cost a fortune to go back during the summer or X'mas.

Thanks for the link! Just booked a flight for my Grandma to go to HK in Feb for $938 Tax-In. Far different than the $1550 I paid to go back to HK last month.

How is AC's service to HK? I've only flown Cathy but I'm interested in some of the sales.

Service is okay. No unlimited cup noodles on long hauls like CX haha LOL! But imo, service doesn't really matter. I sleep most of the time and when I am awake I watch movies. As long as they bring me food and drinks if i want then I'm happy.

But if you fly Business class then that's another story.

½ true :P

I just came back from HK&Taiwan (dec10-jan3 SUPER SUPER HIGH SEASON) and it costed me 1300$ tax in for Economy on Cathay airlines.
Not bad imo for high-season and early ticket booking

yeah, I heard it is a lot cheaper to fly Cathy these days and it's dirt cheap to fly from Vancouver...of course . But their seats are much smaller and uncomfy than those on AC. But what the heck I will fly Cathy if it means to save $500. Still looking for seats in Dec 09'...lol

wow, thanks for the tip, i think i will book for March from Vancouver to HK, only $896 taxes and surcharges in, thats really cheap!

AC services aren't bad, but i just spoke with a client of mine yesterday at work and he told me that he was flying from Vancouver to Montreal during the Christmas season and they lost his lugguage and it ended up in Halifax for some odd reason....and he still doesnt have his luggage after returning for a week

he was very glad that I sold him some travel insurance which included lost baggage coverage, LOL!

I booked flights to HK back in October via AC and prices were decent, after taxes and airport fees, tickets were about $1000 each.

I've flown AC many, many times. Their seats are much more spacious compared to Cathy.

I miss the days of Oasis though... service was superb, and price was insane.

As long as you book early you should be okay and still receive the $896 deal. Say your going back in May, and coming back in August, I received the quote for $896.

Economy seats on the AC 77L planes are really, really decent, almost like Business Class seats in the old Airbus. Even better, if you are Elite and get to choose the bulkhead limo-like seats. The food sucks, nonetheless, so eat well before hand. One better, if you have the correct upgrade coupon and get upgraded to Business Class, the booth seats and service/food are just fantastic!!

I do work trips to Toronto 2-3 times a month on AC's business class for the last 2 years and I honestly say it's one of the worst airlines I've ever been on. Their customer service is beyond horrible, if you get stuck in bad weather good luck getting any help. My advice is buy your ticket on a credit card with travel insurance because you might need it if you're travelling on AC.

My other beef with AC is their business and economy cabins on most of their aircraft are old and very dated but some of the 767's have been XM'd. The 767 is beyond horrific and I think they use this aircraft on some flights to Asia. Thankfully most of their older fleet will be replaced with 787's but that's still a few years away.

The only thing I like about AC is I sometimes have a chance to travel on the 777LR domestically which is nice because you have the upgraded business class cabin.

As of today there are only 3 old 767 left in their fleet, the rest have all been refitted with new interiors (red star).

Of late I’ve been catching the A320 and the E90 which is actually pretty comfortable for an aircraft that should be doing 2 hour flights and not 5+hour flights.

Those Embraer 190 (E90) are great little Brazilian made planes. They have the most airy cabins of all but they also get a little bit cold some times. The old little Airbuses are not nearly as nice.

How do you get 5+ hour trips on an E90? They don't use them on long routes such as the YVR - YYZ because they only have 3540km range.

Yup, cold and very hot.

Actually I've flown the E90 from YVR - YYZ a few times. The last time was about a month ago because our 767 had tech issues. I've also flown on the E90 from SEA - YYZ which is the only aircraft AC uses on the SEA/YYZ route. Flyertalk has a long and interesting thread about the E90 flights from YVR - YYZ.
