Thumbs up Curb rash repair.......

I wanted to post some fresh photos of a wheel repair that we provided for a client here in San Juan Capistrano California. She had a very clean 328i but recently had an encounter with the curb on the front passenger wheel, resulting in curb rash on the outer edge of the wheel. She was referred to me by another customer who's Bentley GT we care for every week. I arrived as promised and performed our wheel restoration procedure with the tire and wheel on the vehicle. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the wheel with the initial damage, but you guys know what a curb rashed wheel looks like.

Attached are some pics during the repair and after completion. Services to repair wheels start at $150.00 - $175.00 per wheel, and price is subject to how much damage needs to be repaired on the wheel.

[B]Our system utilizes a patented Wheel Lathe technology which enable us to repair the wheel without removing the wheel from the car, or having to dismount , remount and balance the wheel/B] And provide you with the most durable OEM color match possible. We do not provide this service for chrome wheels!

Nice work. The result of wheel repair when done right is outstanding. I like that you don't have to take the wheel off with this process. Question: How is overspray prevented on the brake calipers and rotors?

Im impressed with the technology, but close ups of what you actually repaired would have been even better! Im not doubting your skills, but its hard to see any difference from the 1st pic and the last (except the tape). Thats a great ulterior service you have!

Arrow

Our process eliminates any overspray from getting on any parts of the vehicle, brakes or calipers. We provide a complete 4 step repair process where we do the following...

1) Tape and mask area
2) Grind and sand out damaged area and prep for paint
3) Repaint the wheel using an exact OEM color match to the specific wheel
4) Apply OEM clear coat to protect the wheels finish

The paint is applied using a professional automotive airbrush for fine finishing. Our technique and years of experience allow this to be done with NO OVERSPRAY GUARANTEED!

Thanks again
Dave

We lay the base coat color down with an extra fine automotive airbrush on the damaged areas that have been repaired and prepped, and blend to the adjacent areas. Then we follow up with the clear coat to protect the entire repair area and the rest of the wheel. The results are a wheel that looks like new, without having to buy a new wheel, or all the other hassles associated with wheel damage.

I'm amazed that you don't have issues with overspray. I repaired my own curb rash wheels, and the silver paint gets EVERYWHERE if you aren't careful. I guess you guys are using a fine airbrush rather than a spray can, though.

I did it with the wheels off the car and well masked. There's a DIY here that I followed. If the wheels were still on the car, I'd be worried about paint on my brakes or worse, on the fender or wheel well. I also had a tough time getting the clear to lay as flat and smooth as OEM. All in all, I was very pleased with the job I did, but it was enough work that next time, I'd rather pay someone like you to do it. $150 per wheel is well worth it.

I'm guessing this process is only good for OEM wheels? How about some aftermarket rims with different colors such as Matte Black or hyperblack ect...

Price is the same with aftermarket wheels as well, we specialize in color coordinating the centers to your liking. If your wheels are silver, lip and or centers we can change the complete color if you like. We also specialize in Matte Black and Hyper black refinishes. We also ceramic paint calipers in different colors such as red or yellow, etc......Call or email for a quote.

Do use any filler to replace the portion of the wheel that has been ground away by the curb?

No we dont Nick. As long as its not a HUGE CHUNK OF THE RIM we lightly grind out the curb rash on the damaged area and then recontour the lip of the wheel all the way around like it was originally.

Also post close up pics of the damage. You can't see any damage on that rim at all, from any of the pics.
