Thanks for the article!

I can’t imagine having a car without it now. It’s not that hard to learn, indeed you’d be hard pressed to find an iDrive-equipped BMW owner who doesn’t like the system.
I was in danger of hating the system before I updated recently. The need to click the legal disclaimer every time I started the car for as long as I own the car was fixin' (that's a Texas term) to be a huge annoyance. Also, the need to go back thru the menus each time to get to the last screen I was looking at was also a big annoyance. Fortunately, software update fixed both. Now that they are fixed, I like it pretty well.

I am only weary of how dated it is going to be if I am still driving this thing in 5 years.

I never paid any attention since I just hardly use Navi part of the iDrive.
That must be because of its really a cool new DVD movie feature

Hi - can someone please tell us how we can enable this feature in the car. Have a Sept 07 plate car, does anyone know if this feature can be enabled on the vehicle ?

Thanx.

In the 3-series, only the latest i-Drive (CIC based) has DVD movie playback. For older CCC based i-Drive, DVD movie playback is not possible from factory.
