Total DSC Failure! Almost crashed last night!
Just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with this. I picked up my car from the dealer last night, it was in to have the horn fixed (which they broke), and as I pulled out onto the main road the car just fish tailed and swung out into oncoming lanes (I accelerated normally to merge into traffic, usually no issues with slipping because of the DSC). Then a screen came up that said Warning, DCS System Failure!, then another screen, Warning, Tire pressure monitor system failure!, then the brake light came on in yellow (parking brake was all the way down). I pulled over and tried restarting the car, same warnings. So, I brought it back to the dealer and they are looking at it today. I was kind of angry about the whole situation (see details below if youre interested), and told the service writer I expect him to make it up to me for this being my 4th trip to the dealer for something they broke. He said he needs to see the car's version of the story first and call me back.. Something I did could have caused this???
The whole story: I brought the car in a couple of months ago for routine maintenance and to have the steering wheel trim replaced as it was wearing through prematurely. After they replaced it, the horn was no longer working, but service was closed by time I found that out. Came back a second time, they said they couldnt fix the horn because they had to order a part. Came back a third time, spent half the day at the dealer to then be told they are having a problem figuring out whats wrong with the horn, so they sent me home in a rental car. Fourth time back was last night. Seems like they keep breaking things! My car was fine it just needed a piece of effin trim replaced! My service writer has been good to me and taken care of me the best he can, I just cant understand how this much can happen under the care of the technicians. Where is the quality control? Now I feel like they are checking to see if it was my fault?? wtf. |

I dont believe u caused the problem, i believe u have a problem with the szl (steering column switch). The szl has the steering angle built into it, if faulty it would cause the dsc to fail. This szl is located behind the steering wheel. Depending on what fault is present in the dsc module and fault frequency, it should be replaced.

Or an ABS sensor (with lateral acceleration sensor) or faulty alternator (high voltage spikes). But SZL is a great candidate as Alex said.
