Slow I-Drive at Start Up
For about 1 minute or so after starting my car the I-Drive system will not respond to any input, including changing the volume. This behavior occurs in about 1 out of every 3 car starts. My car has been updated to v.30.2, v.31.1 and recently to v.32.1 but the problem remains. I tried disabling Bluetooth, and removing my little Lacie drive with no improvement. On occaision while driving Sirius would freeze too but that has seemed to cure itself. My service foreman is not sure what the problem is. Just wondering if anyone else has this same problem or has an idea what it might be.

Mine does the same thing every few starts.. I guess I'm just going to live with it for now. It's not worth my time to visit the dealer.. except when you leave the radio up high and can't turn it down lol

I may be wrong - but I think this happen because BT upload phone contacts to the car.

Yeah it's a supposed "known" issue claiming that it's booting up.
You will be able to use radio and other commands for about 1 min. right after starting the car and then you'll be stuck on stupid for another minute or so. What really sucks is when you get an incoming phone call right when it's on "Duh" mode or you are on an existing call and hop in your car. Your caller can hear you but you can't hear them and the radio is still on for a bit. My Merc and Acura doesn't do this but every BMW loaner and my 335 did this. The flip side to this though is that irregardless what phone you sync with, it sends all of your contacts through vs MB; you have to force contacts over as cards. |

I know I did a test to see if the "booting" thing still happens when BT is disabled on both the car and phone and I recall it does still happen. I need to try this test again but for now I'm dealing with a second failing HPFP. |

I think we're all just going to whine about it until BMW does something about it.
I've brought it up with service and "it's normal"... |

The start up on my 06 330i is also slow. Sometimes more then others and it's so annoying. Sometimes my cars goes from duh to full retard during start up. I want to select CD player and it takes me to climate control. These are the manual controls and not the voice activation I am referring to. The worst is every single time I get out of my car for five minutes and when I come back i have to get rid of the start up warning and then select the CD player all over again. lame........

it only happens when i unlock and jump in my car and start right away...ive found that if i unlock from a distance (say 20-30ft), it gives the car more time to load..and by the time i reach it and open the door and sit down and start, idrive works right away

I unlock and take about 5-8 seconds before I actually start the car, and its all good...if I start right away, it sits there for about a minute.
