Melting Pot

No I'm not starting a thread about NYC or LA.

We went to The Melting Pot restaurant last night, for the first time, my 11 yr olds birthday choice.

Anyway, do you cook at home like this? I've never flash boiled chicken, shrimp, steak in a seasoned broth before, but I would definitely like to start.
Anyone do this regularly? Also their mustard sauce was amazing, where can I procure that stuff?

Not to mention, the beer flavored cheese with pretzel bread, apples, and then after you are completely stuffed, they bring chocolate fondue. Turns out Belgian waffles + strawberries smothered in marshmellow melted chocolate with crushed oreos was what I had been missing my entire life, who knew!?

We fondue regularly. Sometimes cheese, sometimes oil or broth, and occasionally chocolate for desert.

We use this pot - it's perfect for all of the above: Electric Fondue Pot

Fondueing is easy and great for two or entertaining. Just get started!

We used to go a few times a year b/c it was different and fun. Then it almost go to be a non-special event. It was never fancy dressed up event but it was unique.
Last time we went there was a bunch of slobs in torn sweatpants and kids with food all over themselves. I'm being snobby but it left a real bad taste in our mouth.

Kind of like once a TV show jumps the shark and you just cant watch it anymore.
Same thing happened with Chart House. It used to be a nice night out, have some drinks and some decent food and then all the riff-raff started going there and it became no better than a TGIFridays

we've gone maybe twice in the past 10years? overall the food isn't that great considering all the options we have here in Seattle. if i want to fondue i'll just do it at home

now that we have little kids we likely won't be dining there for a few years longer.

I really prefer oil. Not into boiled meats. Oil makes it crispy and delicious. Don't know why they alway push the broth there but a hard pass for me.

This. I went once a million years ago and I just remember I said never again will I pay that much to boil my own meat. Never been back. Maybe it's different now. I prefer the Korean BBQ places where you actually grill the meat.

Oh man. If whoever is reading this hasn't tried KoreanBBQ, you're missing out. It's one of my favorites. I will pick KBBQ over Melting Pot 100% of the time.

I've been to the Melting pot a few times, but none of the experiences were memorable. Grilled meat is far better than boiled meat. If you want a fondue experience buy a electric fondue pot, and do it with cheese and vegetables, and then chocolates and deserts. That's the only kind of fondue i would do.

I've only had melting pot twice in my life. It's decent... if you get the right meats it's pretty delicious. But as others have pointed out... something like korean BBQ is way better.

IMO you go to melting pot mainly for the cheese and chocolate fondues.... the main course is just decent.

I don’t think they meet the minimum suggested gift value set by todays standards (lol)

We go occasionally. After you've done the full thing, it's becomes worth it to just get the cheese and the dessert.
