(Here's AP talking about it)

I’m on the list at an MSRP only dealer…crossing my fingers.

Ehhh, might not be a popular opinion but I don't think it works as a vert. Sort of looks like a regular Boxster with a bunch of intentionally eye catching shit stuck on it.

The GT4RS now, wooooooooow. No comparison between the two.

The roof cover is very spartan and won't be good in a windy rain.

It'll be fine, the car will be inside during a windy rain with 0 miles on it.

yeah nobody is driving that in the rain. Its an A to A car. Or at most you might stop for 10 minutes to run in a store or grab coffee on a nice day.

I like it though. never was a fan of open top 911s as i think they just look weird. so i'd probably take this over the next 911 speedster.

One of my biggest issues with porshe is all that ugly black plastic. Why can't it be carbon fiber? Why do they have to rice out their cars?

It can be, you just have to pay them a very large pile of money for it.

because it serves no purpose other than dress up in areas like the front lip, side skirts, diffuser. plus plastic it doesn't shatter on impact like if you bottom out on a track or clip some debris. and of course, its cheaper.

porsche still has the weight thing figured out while others dont. 992 turbo s weighs 100 lbs less than the carbon tub and body kit MC20. GT3 weighs 200 lbs less than a performante.

The MC20 is by no means a lightweight car despite the carbon tub. The 992 turbo s is definitely not a light car when compared to the carbon tub McLaren 720 which is about 500 lbs lighter. Porsche GT3 models are lighter than most but not as light as the LT models. I believe the m5CS is lighter than the Panamera and the plaid of all vehicles with three motors is lighter than the dual motor taycan. I'm my opinion Porsche does have the weight thing figured out but so do other manufacturers.

Porsche hasn't nailed it with a roof like that.
I'm not sure but it makes me think about a camping tent

Makes me think of the hood security on a normal Boxter at a quarter of the price.

Looks great with the roof down like the regular Spyder. Roof up however...

Is it just me, or is it harder and harder to get excited about new Porsche's with the amount of cars they keep on coming out with. I don't know, but I guess their getting all the good stuff out before they replace it with EV's.

I can't get excited about the Spyder RS. When I heard they were making one, my response was, "Why?". Nothing about a convertible screams "hardcore". I'm certain I'd be burned at the stake on RL for such a comment as many believe the Spyder is Porsche's crown jewel.

Pretty niche-y car. Almost 500hp and a weird canvas top. OK I guess. Fast and nimble, but not too practical even as a fun/weekend car.

Porsche is getting too plasticky on the sports cars. Cayenne and Panamera can be ordered with painted wheel arches and mirror housings which helps keep the cheap matte black plastic to a minimum. CF trim for a daily is a bridge too far from the wallet point of view.

You don't have to get the Weissach Package. All that does is basically cosmetic, revealing the carbon fiber bits while allowing you to get the wheels, which is where most of the weight savings come from. Without getting WP, all of the CF stuff is painted over. You don't need to pay 15k to get the wheels, you can pay half that, get BBS FI-Rs and get most of what that gives you minus the headache. It is even less for the Spyder RS considering the big, carbon fiber intake isn't behind your head like the GT4RS is, Spyder RS is just those little scopes behind you.

FI-Rs is what Manthey Racing puts on for their "aftermarket" package. The Weissach Package is generally unnecessary but owners buy it due to straight up dealership pressure.

Spyders in general have never been as popular as the Cayman variant, the only reason why the Spyder RS will be different is purely because of the GT3 engine behind it. That alone is the reason and with any Porsche product, engine matters to the big, enthusiasts buyers.

It’s a GT3 engine in a convertible for half the cost of a Speedster. Good enough. The top does look like it sucks ass though.
