My JB+ experience....

Well, let me suffice to say that I'm very impressed with Burger Tuning's JB+. I received it 3 days ago and decided to see what adaptation happened before doing a writeup about it. Something to note as well is that I was a previous Piggyback owner (RD Sport) and had it for a few months. So here is my review:

When I first installed it, it was pretty straight forward. Just like an SSTT, its literally a 30 second install if you know what you're doing. The USB cable REALLY helped out (FYI). I did not have to disconnect the battery at all and just did the regular - hood open, lock car, wait 20 min, then install.

The first drive, down the street, and I completely floored it, did not have a very impressive effect. I expected this as i knew the computer had to adapt to it so no biggie. I did a cou0ple of runs to 100MPH and it was noticeably faster by a notch.

The next day I woke up and did my rounds - Marina to Santa Monica, to Malibu and back. At this point the car was adapting and i could feel it slightly going in and out of "fast" and "ok". Stopping at the next couple of lights on my way home, when I would pull out in 1st, the car would shudder a bit. I was feeling for whether it was a clutch issue or maybe the engine was knocking subtlety. Then I parked and shut the engine, then started again moved onto 1st, then the shuddering continued. I figured I may never know the issue unless I disconnected the JB+, but I decided to wait till the next day since i figured it was maybe an adaptation thing.

Now the third day.....today. DAMN. It felt greeat!!! The moment I pulled out of my driveway and went down my street, it felt like it had more "oomph" right away. Some reviews I've read of the SSTT said that they felt that it pulled till 5500 and then tapered off. The JB+ pulls past that and you can feel it go till about 6600. It had a very steady and smooth pull too, NOT jerky or sudden. Just a smooth rush of power. I haven't dynoed the car, but the proposed 40HP/40TQ is definitely there if not more. I would guess I got an extra 45/45 at least.

I just came back from a run right now and drove to Beverly Hills and back taking our beloved 405. There was a 335i trying to race me on the way home and I was noticeably faster. I tired all gears to see how much torque was felt throughout the powerband, and even at 5th and 6th you can feel the difference. its not as wild, don't get me wrong, but its definitely noticeable. The most power difference is felt from 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear pulls where most enjoyment is felt )))) I'm very happy!

NO check engine lights or any codes thrown. I'm actually very impressed with the smooth delivery of power and how its not jerky, as some SSTT owners have reported. But I can attest....its really a 40/40 feel at least You'll be very happy with the results and power delivery. I absolutely recommend this upgrade if you don't wanna "fiddle" with your ECU.

Kudos to Terry at Burger and Mike at Riss Racing!!!! Great info delivery and they completely gave me all the support and question answering I needed ( I ask a LOT of questions). GREAT product and fantastic service!!! Good job Terry!!!

once again one more great review to JB and riss racing, my brother was soo obssessed with the videos that i showed him off 335i with JB3 he wants to give his car to me and get a 335i i swear he is like" are you sure they don't make this for 328i ? because i would sell my kidney to get that chip" so when he gets his car i am sure that will be one of the first stops he makes. an amazing product.

me too....then I figured I'd wait a little....now they're giving away M3 Convertibles for $699/month lease!!! (assuming you have great credit of course). But eh, I'll most likely just get another one OR certify mine and finance it out.

The JB+ allows you to adjust boost in two ways...

1) First you can open it (using two screws) and adjust the boost knob from +1.5psi to +5psi. The default setting is +2.75psi. This may be changed as beta testing continues. For comparison the SSTT is at 3.5 psi.

2) The second way is via update chips, which can be mail out in the event that BMW makes changes that require such a change. Or if new features are added. For comparison the SSTT is sealed and not upgradable.

The JB+ also uses logic within the microcontroller to compensate for IAT, altitude, etc, to ensure everything is kept in check.

Hope that explains it a little more

It has a MUCH smoother pull and gradual rise.
