Tire pressure monitor
I have had my winter set up on that I bought from the Tire Rack for about 3 months now and I have noticed that now that the weather has been pretty cold my tire warning light goes on almost every time I get into my car for the first time in the morning and when I get back to it after I leave work. I start it up and drive for a second or two and I get the chime and yellow low tire pressure light and it stays on for a minute then goes out and I do not need to reset it. Kind of a pain in the ass. I called my BMW dealer and they told me to go pound some sand when I told them that I had aftermarket wheels and tires on the car. Does anyone else have this problem? I was going to call Tire Rack tomorrow and see if I need to get the tire pressure monitors replaced or whatever...

It's the gas law at work...less temperature (from when the TPM was reset originally)...less pressure.
Try resetting when the temperature is cold. Then the pressure has to drop a lot further before the light comes on. It's happened to me, but not since I reset with the temperature cold. |

I typically set the correct pressure, reset and THEN add an additional 1lb/inch^2 to the tires. That has worked for me in Colorado's winters (not like it's actually cold here this year...)

You can also try nitrogen fills, the PSI generally do not very as much as non-nitrogens. You can probably get this done for little or no cost at your nearest Costco
