Going to Big Bear....Need chains?

Hey guys, as the title says, heading up to Big Bear again tomorrow, but this time ill be taking my car. I drive an E90 330i, and was wondering if Ill really need chans. Went up there last week and there was no ice or snow on the road and my friends Evo9 had no problem at all (could be cause the awd).

Or are chains just req. when driving IN the snow? Thanks again!!, not really sure what to do about this

Edit: Forgot to mention, im on Falken 452's, not sure if that makes a diff.

My brother got stuck on the side of the road overnight when leaving Big Bear a couple of weeks ago. The CHP wouldn't anyone with or without chains down the mountain. Just check weather.com before and after you leave for conditions.

Yeah i feel you on that. Just hoping to get a little fun, and some pictures. There was decent snow last week. Just everything closed like at 4.

Thanks ra, and everyone else with the input

You can probably play it by ear, watch the weather forecasts, if theres no snow for days or even weeks then the ground will probably be dry. But be aware you might get stuck if you are caught in a freak storm
