All the research I did told me it was going to be steel. But it doesn't look like steel. And the piston feels like plastic.

I was going to do a rebuild as it's an old car but all the research told me it will be steel so I bought pistons and rubber stuff for a steel caliper.

But this bracket is steel. Is that how it's supposed to be or should the bracket be aluminium too?

From what I can tell so far the pistons are plastic not steel and the slider pin rubber sleeves are slightly different as the ones I have are for the steel and I can put them in but the pins are very tight in them, I am going to use the rubber sleeves I have for the rear calipers as they seem to be a good fit.

I am not going to rebuild the calipers as they look ok. Thankfully the new disks and pads are good. So I'll just replace those.

I don't think the pistons will be plastic. You need to invest in a fridge magnet

don't know what it is but they are not metal for sure

Use a magnet should tell you if caliper is steel or not. But to my eyes it looks aluminum since it's not as rusted but maybe it just held up well.

Definitely aluminium, the rear ones are steel and they are rusty as hell and feel much heavier.
