Tahoe & Sacramento

I'm in Folsom til Friday, thinking of going up to Tahoe and maybe killing some time in Sac. Have a couple questions...

1. Will I need awd or snow tires to drive up to Tahoe? I have a sh!tty Dodge Caliber rental, I don't think it even has M&S tires on it. (I can't begin to describe how bad the car is, but that's another story...) If push comes to shove, I could borrow my cousin's Jeep GC, but I don't know if that's necessary.

2. I kinda hurt my knee playing soccer, so may skip snowboarding while up in Tahoe. What other fun things are there to do?

3. Anything else worth seeing in the Folsom/Sac area?

Any other ideas/input appreciated...

1985 MB?? Gas or diesel? LWB/SWB?

Anyways, you should be cool right now. It has not snowed heavily in a while, so I do not think the roads are covered in any white stuff....

Other than skiing, there is nothing to do in Tahoe other than hit on chicks...

Are you deaded back thru Sac on your way home? Mini meet time?

a storm is coming in, so if it snows, you're gonna need some snow chains.

for tahoe, besides snowboarding, there's gambling.

I've been checking the weather forecast for tomorrow. A few hrs ago it was rain/snow starting at 6pm, which would have been fine b/c I would have been outta there by then. But now the forecast is precipitation at 3...... hmmm

Guess I'll check the weather again in the a.m. and decide.

SWB gas w126 - sold it a few weeks back. Oh, well...

I'm flying out of SFO, so unless I find a more scenic route I'll head back via 80 and Sac. Are you guys having a meet?

+1. After Friday it would be sunny but it's going to be snowing for a few days so you will need chains or AWD.

I did go today, seeing as the forecast in the a.m. was for one patch of rain around 3 and then the storm starting later in the evening. It ended up being clear all day, with great visibility and decent temp. It was only around 5:30 or 6, when I had started on my way back, that it started to rain.

I did the 75 mile loop around the entire lake with plenty of stops - a great drive with twisties and elevation changes, not to mention brilliant views and vistas. Unfortunately my camera battery died in the middle, but it was fun nonetheless. Rt 50E heading towards So. Lake Tahoe and the loop are both great drives.
