N54 Injector Installation Problem

*Photo is of the old injector

I’m having trouble installing one new injector on my N54, specifically cylinder 6, and looking for advice. I discovered that the old Index-8 injector was leaking so I ordered three new Index-12 injectors for bank 2 (bank 1 had been done at some point in the past) and am installing them today.

The injector was new with the cap on, and I attempted to install it within about five seconds of removing the cap but it will not seat no matter how hard I push or wiggle. The other two new ones went in fine, as did the three old ones with new seals after using a seal compressor kit. But even after re-compressing the new cylinder 6 injector seal it won’t go and I’m at a loss.

The old injector had some white buildup above the seal, as pictured, and I’m guessing that the seal is getting caught up on a bit of this crap, but don’t know what to do about it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Some brake cleaner and a nylon wire brush should clean the hole out enough to get the new injector in.

Same here. I have some corrosion in the cylinder 3 bore which seems to prevent me from installing the injector. I've tried nylon wire brushes and brake clean as well as WD-40. Did you ever come up with a solution to this?

I haven’t. I’m going to try this though. Immediately after taking the injector out of the tool, immediately dip the tip in a small cup of engine oil and put it in. It will take some force.
