I have an 2008 bmw e91 320d that i swapped an 325d m57 engine into, when i did the engine swap i swapped over the dde, cas, low pressure pump, key, dash and abs pump, after 2 days of trying to get the car to start i got it to start, when i stopped the engine i tryed it one more time to be sure and it started that time too, after that i did not try to start it for 30-40 min and then it would not start, got fault code 004a42, anyone have any advice i tryed to synchronise the dme and cas in ista but i only get a error

Since the new engine is bigger you need the all info from the 320 to the 325 ecu and cas. An engine swap itself, or hard parts , won’t cause a no start. As long as the know engine was runnin. You’ll need to hook up to a scanner, this will tell you if you’re communicatin, but I’m betting, the key, cas, and dme will also need to be swapped over.
