Interesting Car I Saw in China

Been meaning to share this since I got back from a business trip to China a couple of months ago. Saw quite a few of these over there, it looked like a last gen Corolla with a hint of C-Class at the rear. It was the badge and sharkfin that caught my attention the most though - seem familiar?

It says BYD, apologies for the poor picture quality, but it was taken from a taxi.

The chinese auto companies are known rip off artists of well known global designs.
I think there was a lawsuit by BMW against one of the car companies for ripping off the X5

It looks better than the new Corolla. Everyone copies each other. Mercedes is copying Lexus. Lexus copied Mercedes. Damn, Lexus is now copying Honda for their new Hybrid sedan.

And Honda's new Hybrid is a copy of the Toyota Prius.

I've seen some of those cars "inspired" by the X5, CLK etc before, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this badge - pretty ballsy!

The Chinese has had many innovations throughout its history that was copied off of as well.

They should be but there not.The average chinese person cant afford the luxury goods that we have thats why they are so good at making knockoffs. Cars, North Faces, suits, golf clubs, handbags, watches etc. If they cant afford it, they'll make something that looks just like it for a fraction of the cost.

You don't know jack do you? The money that is being borrowed has interest that is being paid on it. And it is being borrowed from the Government and companies, its not like the people who borrow money go to some poor villager and pry it out of their hands.

And America doesn't "culturally copy" anyone. We are a nation of immigrants, therefor we have many different traditions that are a mix of the cultures that make up our country.

There is a difference between taking some design cues from another manufacturer and blatantly copying the car.

what the hell is the big deal, people buy that cheap car in China because they can't afford the real BMW. The ones that can will buy a real BMW (trust me, theres a shit load of real BMWs around) Without the knock off, those people will not buy the real BMW anyway because they can't afford it. So BMW in the end is not really losing any business.
If you ask me Hyundai is fucked up, they're jacking accord designs left and right and since they are roughly in the same price range are actually stealing potential customers.
