The build begins...
The 963M is the lightest and most arguably aggressive looking rim in the BMW M Performance line up (my youngins call em 'cheese graters' or 'finger mincers'), presented here in Gunmetal Grey which I personally really like on the Black Sapphire Metallic M2 with 4 stage paint correction, Ceramic coating and Ceramic window tint. I didn't think I'd notice the lighter wheels, swapping the semi-forges for the lightest in the range but I swear it actually rides a little better - that or the placebo is in full effect. The car goes for its break-in service this week and then the real mechanical modifications begin. I enjoyed building my G42 but am even more stoked to start wrenching on the G87, an already incredible machine. I think the angular and aggressive look of the 963m compliment the boxy styling of the G87 beautifully. What do you guys think? https://youtu.be/W1eQGaSw9WY Last edited by M Division; 07-22-2023 at 11:12 AM.. |

That looks incredible!
It will absolutely ride better. Lighter wheels have less inertial mass for the dampers to deal with, so the wheels settle quicker. |

Makes perfect sense, it rode perfectly well before, but just +10% even better now I'm sure. Cant speak for any noticeable performance differences but the ride is bang on |

You'll also notice the car will feel lighter and nimbler on its feet.

The rims are very nice, but as on the M3/4 they look smaller than they are, they look like 18/19.

Yes I know what you mean, particularly in photos, oddly in person they look larger 19/20. I think it is the contrast of the grey and the tire, and the size of the lip and spoke. At any rate, once it is lowered I think that will make a huge difference also.

For me personally though I think the flatness of the face works with the flatness of the G87 design. |

Can these wheels be a port-installed option when we order the car?

They do look smaller visually than the stock wheels. I think what contributes to that is the stock height. Do the M Performance/KW H.A.S. and a set a wheel spacers to bring them out flush and it will transform the look of the car for sure. When they are flush with the body, it will show the concavity of the wheel more.

I think the lighting in your photos really takes some of the excitement out. Let's get some spacers on there and some above-average lighting and this will slap! Awesome car! |
