E93 325i N53 engine missfire + codes
I just bought a 2012 E93 325i last Thursday, which has been great for a few days, up until today. I started it up and it sounded rough, with erratic RPMs. The engine management light came on as well. It actually did the same thing yesterday for a few seconds after startup, however, the engine ran smoothly after that, with no engine management light.
I scanned it with an Autel unit and it returned the following codes: 2A2C Mixture Control 2 2A2B Mixture Control 29CF Combustion Misfire Cyl 3 29D9 Misfire at low tank fill level I do currently have about 1/8 of a tank, however, surely it shouldn't misfire because of this? I'm wondering whether anyone has any ideas about what this could be? I've cleared the errors and it's running fine again, although I am expecting them to come back. |

Very likely to be failed injectors. It's worth pulling the spark plugs after an overnight stop. Plugs that are black/wet/smell of fuel will point to which injectors are failing. The reason it starts rough then improves is that fuel leaks into the cylinders overnight from the leaking injectors, then clears once the engine warms up.
