Fuel injector turned slightly during fuel line reattachment
Tried scouring the forums but could not find a post with a similar situation.
As the title says; last night, after replacing the valve cover on my E91 Alpina B3s with N54 engine, I was reinstalling the fuel lines. When torqueing the fuel line to injector #6, it felt like the injector turned slightly in its socket. The injector is not aligned straight, in comparison to the others and its holding bracket. I could not easily turn it back, nor did it wiggle or anything. Did not take a picture as it was late (like 130 AM late) and had to wrap up. This morning no fuel leaks, misfires or any fault codes. Question; is this a problem or can this become one? Should I get a new seal and decoupler and reinstall? Never touched them after they got replaced/upgraded to Index 12 under warranty 8 years and almost 150.000 km ago. Any thoughts? I can open up the hood this weekend should a picture be of more help. Schematic the alignment would be something like so: 6 #5 #4 #3 #2 #1 \ -- -- -- -- -- |

It’s fine, just monitor it. Mine turned a little while torquing fuel lines after changing the valve cover. It’s a sealed circular hole and the Teflon seal will readjust.

Ok, that is a relief. Will keep monitoring it. The huge amount of 'ovaling' topics my search came up with, made me worried that it would not be a circular hole.

Won't hurt it at all.. it has an extremely durable seal in there to withstand combustion. Whatever you do don't wiggle or rock it, that can cause the hole to oval out. If it turned so that the fuel line won't attach correctly simply loosen the single bolt that holds the injector bracket and turn injector.

It turned while attaching the fuel line. The line is on there and car is running. Since the turn is about 10-15 degrees, my worry is that there is now undue pressure on the fuel line, which in time might become an issue?
I have to take the vanity cover off anyway to reach a bolt that didn't went in properly (other thread) and have another look at the injector to see if I can straighten it without wobbling or rocking. |
