Interchangable door handles?
I recently bought myself a pre-lci E91 with comfort access and the driver's side handle doesn't work. I've seen and have been told that this is caused by the CA handle itself. I've been searching for a handle and all i can find are one's from the passenger side or in wrong color. Looking at the handles from the driver and passenger's side, they look exactly the same. Are the driver's side and passenger's side door handles the same and can i swap them?

Drivers front will have a key hole.
Passenger side will be mirrored so it wont work but sedan/wagon ones should be the same |

Here is a list of cars with the same handle.
Extend your search to different cars and youth find the correct color. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=51217207543 |

What is it doing wrong? Just the locking and unlocking with a touch or the actual opening of the door or..??
It's more likely not just the handle you touch but the bits inside that connect it all together. The door latch assembly is notorious for failure on this vehicle. Heck one of the auto parts houses only sells the latch assembly in a pair as they know if one goes the other does as well. (I've had to replace almost all my door lock assemblies. But when they break the door stops being able to be opened or closed). Long story longer make sure it's just the handle and not more. |
