Deep scratch - What do I do?

Recently discovered 2 scratches on the passenger side door panel. 1 relatively long but not as deep, and another shorter one that is extremely deep, which I think has gone through the paint itself. Already tried contacting for footage in the areas I parked in but no luck.

It seems manmade (intentional or not) as I can't see these scratches forming from rocks or branches naturally, especially since I would have heard or felt it while driving + the fact they're almost perpendicular.

What's the solution to getting this fixed (whole panel respray)? Does insurance cover this if I don't have proof of an intentional act from someone else? Color is Dravit Grey so it's somewhat individual and I'm assuming only certain BMW certified centers will be able to take a look at it, if they can even match it.

Sorry about the scratches. Hard to say what happened. Probably not worth painting the whole panel... might look worse.

I have touched up scratches like that with a very fine tip paintbrush and touch up paint. it wasn't perfect but good enough for me. A body shop can probably touch it up and you won't be able to see it.

Scratches and dents suck, but it's part of life with cars.

When I lived in Texas I made a comprehensive claim because an unknown person had severely scraped the side of my car when it was parked in a parking lot. I had to go to a police station and pick up a form they used for that type of accident. It served as an alternate to using a police report of an accident when I made my insurance claim.

Sorry this happened to you, those scratches definitely look intentional as they form a right angle.

I would definitely file that police report and then file a comprehensive claim with your insurance company for vandalism which should not affect your premiums. Let you insurance carrier who will be paying for the repair decide what the best approach would be to repair the damage.

Clean it, touch up paint, let cure, then wetsand, then buff.

It definitely takes some skill to do that, if its your first rodeo i would be hesitant but then it depend upon how "perfect" you want it.I would get an estimate from a couple body shops for just touchup/sand/buff, as opposed to total respray of the entire door. May be quite reasonable and a higher quality than DIY unless you've done it before. An older car different story.
And yes, that is definitely intentional. Me I'm careful about parking in front of private residences as some folks think that space is "theirs".

I personally am pretty handy at that stuff and have done DIY body work, but on a high end classic of mine that had a minor ding, i ended up messing up up enough with touchup/sand/buff that i had to take it to body shop for entire panel respray.

Some car detail places a very adept at touching up scratches. Might be worth a visit.
