What engine oil are you guys running?

Hey G42 owners,

I trust that you are all in good spirits and enjoying your G42 chassis vehicles. I'm 10,000kms in and although I don't daily and I store my car for the winter, I am having a blast with it!

I would like to initiate a discussion regarding the choice of engine oil viscosity and brand preferences within our community. It has come to my attention that many Supra enthusiasts opt for engine oils with viscosities such as 5w30 and 5w40. Given my enthusiastic driving style during weekends, I have contemplated transitioning to Redline 5W30 as my preferred choice for the upcoming oil change.

My rationale behind this decision stems from the inherent limitations of 0W20 oil due to its relatively low viscosity. As someone who frequently pushes their vehicle into higher rev ranges, I have found that 0W20 does not align with my specific driving requirements. While it may be suitable for those whose usage primarily consists of daily commuting, this does not align with my driving habits.

I would greatly appreciate your insights and experiences on this matter.

Thank you to all those who share and contribute. It's greatly appreciated as I don't want to solely go off of information by Supra owners, as our engine differs slightly and the Supra is a more track oriented car.

Just curious what evidence you have that 0W20 oil doesn't align with your driving requirements with this engine.

Let's not resurrect this again, it has been rehashed over and over and over on this forum. How many times we gonna beat that poor dead horse?, and by the way, there is a more appropriate section for this question....there is actually an "oil and fluids" section, how about the OP do some reading there?

LiquiMoly 6600 0w20 every 5Kish. There are very few options that have the LL 17 FE+ certification, if you care to have it—I do.

That stuff used to be fed to us as kids a terrible teaspoon at a time. Probably straight 30 weight.

I've read more about oil than I care to for a lifetime lol. Just search for edycol posts here on the forum.

Castrol Euro 0w-30 is probably the best stuff going for most of us right now.

Then the Euro Xw-40 options (specifically Penn Platinum 5w-40, Castrol 0w-40, or Mobile 1 0w-40) if you push your car a little harder or do some occasional track days.

From the bountiful info I have read here, that Redline oil would not be ideal for you.
