Aluminum N54 oil pan on a manual N52?
I have a manual n52 128 that has a rusty carbon steel pan. It does not require any of the attachments to the outside of the pan like the n52 automatic or the n54 for that matter. That said I want to convert to the aluminum pan and have a pan from a n54. The gasket is the same and the oil pickup tube is the same as the n52. Best I can tell the only difference between the aluminum n52 and n54 pans is in the cast details on the outer case which I’m not interested in using. Am I overlooking something? Has anybody done this conversion?

I had the steel pan on my 6MT N51 replaced with an aluminum one. There are some welded nuts on the steel plate between the engine and the transmission bell housing. These nuts are not needed with the aluminum pan and will interfere with installing the aluminum pan. The indy that did the installation cut the nuts off the steel plate and then the aluminum pan fit fine.
