Site Seems Sluggish The Past Couple of Days
Has anyone else noticed sluggish response times with the site the past few days?

Yup, it's doing it...again.
I have to think they know what's going on because they fix it every time, then the dial-up comes back. To edit this response it took 12 seconds to get to it. |

Outright failed to load new posts last night (11-ish PST) and then showed an "invalid security token" page this morning. As of right now, it's just slower than usual.

It seems to be much worse in the morning than later in the day. This leads me to believe they have scheduled capacity changes at different times of the day with their hosting provider to try to reduce hosting costs during off-peak (morning/when people are at work) times. Sounds like they overdid it on the capacity reduction, though.

Note: I am not a computer guy nor have knowledge of how "v-bulletins" work. That said, the number of guests always high. Could that be using too much "cpu" resources ?. Maybe disconnect the guest session after "x" amount of inactive time ?. Just asking...

It's been pretty slow for me the past week or so. Had it crash a couple times when trying to post a new message today.

Seems to come and go of late. Sometimes it's normal and then gets slow, all in one sitting. Wonder what's up? Makes me think it's my wi-fi so I go somewhere else on the web and everything’s normal.

I've noticed it as well. Based on the symptoms, I suspect the backend database is not happy. Queries are taking a long time to complete I bet.
Of note- some people called out 11:00PM PST. This is the time the site does daily database maintenance. It takes 7-15 minutes, and the site is intentionally down when this occurs. Unintended changes/problems noticed immediately after the conclusion of maintenance are likely related, and not expected. If someone in any sort of official role at bimmpoost comes across this post, please consider moving daily DB maintenance to 2AM or later. I've lost track of how many times I tried to visit the forum between the time of 11:00PM - 11:10PM and couldn't. Or was in the middle of replying to a post before 11, and hit post after 11 forgetting that it was db maintenance time and lost my reply entirely. |

Very slow all the time lately, think they need upgraded servers or something to handle the volume of users. Half the time pages say I am not connected to the Internet, then it reloads a few seconds later. Definitely wasn't like this a few months ago.

It's still coming and going for me. One new thing, every time I post I get the "site cannot be reached" error.
