CHAIN GONE
JUST bought this car a couple of days ago… 2008 e91 in BEAUTIFUL condition, no problems on Carly and only 2 owners from new!!!! 130k on the clock and the engine sounded absolutely PERFECT!!! Iv already bought a new CIC and trim, and tons of other wee parts for it I have fallen in love with this car!!! Genuinely love it!!! Drives like a dream and until tonight was everything I wanted from a classic BMW…..
BUT tonight completely unexpected, she chucked her chain…….. what would you do?? |

Congrats on the new BMW and man that super sucks you are having problems so soon.
Sadly you describe more about the generics of your car then the topic of your post. What is even your question..??? Unlike Audi's that require chain replacement at X mileage. BMW's just rarely have chain problems or even need preventive maintainence replacement. BMW's don't just discard a chain randomly. Where did it go? How did you diagnose? What happened? Is it just a chain problem or did it cause piston and valve problems..?? . Last edited by crashoverride; 12-04-2023 at 11:18 AM.. |

If you can do the work yourself grab a engine from a junk yard. Paying a shop will likely not be worth it.
