Swapping ECU+CAS+Speedo+Keys
Context:
2009 328i xdrive LCI that came with one key. The power locks don’t work but the key starts the car. Can lock and unlock doors with the slide out key. Action: Trying to swap in matching ECU+CAS+Speedo+keys that came from 2011 328i xdrive. Question: Would I need to program these? Or is it just plug and play?

pretty sure you will need to update a Vehicle Order (VO) in CAS and potentially code the ECU. VO update is required to make the car function correctly due to possible differences in the options for the car it came from.
Although I'd look into getting another key or 2 unless the problem is actually in CAS or DME

great way to roll back the mileage
I did it , DME , cas, cluster and car worked right away, and goes from 270k km to 117k km . and obviously the comfort and other stuff wont work, since I dont have the software and hardware option. you'll have vin mismatch and some error code in ista. get it fixed, |

Little more context: I had a donor car for my project, and selling leftover parts on the marketplace, including the cas-dme-speedo-keys combo. A guy messaged me with the question in the OP, asking if this swap would solve his issue.
I’d think a ProTool can help with VO coding and re-writing VIN to various modules. The mileage aspect though 😬. Wonder if there is a legal way to do it. |
