swirl flap blank o ring size
Think I’ve pinned down my oil leak to the swirl flap blanks. These were fitted before my ownership to solve an oil leak.
Question is what size are the o rings? Would rather replace these than replace the whole lot of blanks. Also is it acceptable to use tiger seal on these just in case I haven’t got the right size? Thanks! |

Are you trying to solve an oil leak because the engine is losing oil, or because there's oil making a mess down the side of your engine?
O-ring size will depend on the blanks, but probably something like 27mm ID x 3mm CS. |

Had to change the starter motor a few months back and noticed there was a lot of oil around the swirl flap blanks so going to try changing those next. |

Sealing up the swirl flaps is no bad thing, but it won't help with the oil loss - it'll just stop it from making a mess down the side of your engine.
I'd investigate the crankcase vent on the valve cover, personally |

As in just replace it? I’ve replaced both the crankcase breather itself and the pipe that goes into it twice and never noticed a decrease in the oil leak. I know it’s coming from the intake manifold area because that’s where all the oil is. Just unsure of the cause!
Maybe I’m just destined to have an oil leak forever with this car lol. |

Yeah, I don't know why exactly some people have issues with oil consumption. I'm just grateful that (for now at least) mine isn't using a problematic amount

So I found a thread on another site and the guy on there was saying that it’s down to the new style crankcase breathers allowing oil to leak from the intake manifold and that changing to the old foam filter crankcase breather will generally solve or minimise oil leak from that area.
Have to see about getting one and giving it a try! |
