2011 335i Xdrive Purchase

Hi,

As a previous owner of the e46, F30 I always kicked myself for not ordering the e90 335i Xdrive.

Well as fate will have it I located a 2011 with about 60,000 miles, one owner and original paint. The condition of the car is a 7/10- nice wheels, but both bumpers a little scuffed and a few hood chips.

The car just had a bmw service, new brakes and rotors. New tires. Non Runflat 17s which I love. Manual.

Is there anything to look out for besides just an old car that will need things as you go along?

If the plugs and coils have not yet been done, they are due. FCP sells a kit for <$300 and DIY in less than an hour.

May need gaskets replaced soon for oil filter housing and valve cover, but as a previous BMW owner you know that. I would consider getting all of the other fluids replaced in the near future if you have no records for those services.

Sometimes the plastic interior door pulls on the e9x series can degrade and get gummy. You can buy replacements on Amazon for <$30 and DIY in about 30 minutes.

I just had to get a right-rear wheel bearing replaced on my daughter's 2011 335i with 77k miles. I had to replace the left rear wheel bearing on my '09 e91 when it had 130k miles. I believe this is a common failure, so something to keep your ears open for.

Excellent advice. I’ll make sure to look at all these areas for improvement.

I’m sort of a perfectionist with bumpers. Would you respray them if it was your daily? Or live with the chips and scraps? The hood only has two chips remarkablely. And it’s all original…

The interior is near perfect. Shocked it’s this good.

It's beautiful! I wouldn't mess with the bumpers unless the front has a lot of damage. Rear looks great. Put that $$$ into finding a pristine aluminum trim kit for the interior and make it pop!

Keep up on all the gaskets (doors, engine, trunk) with gummi plfeger protectant.

If you need the oil filter housing gasket, do the Mickey Mouse Flange and accessory belt/tensioner at the same time.

Looks like a GREAT vehicle!

Nice color combination. I'd buy a ZHP shift knob, alcantara boot and MSport steering wheel, I love mine.

Awesome! I've had my manual 2011 335i xdrive since 2014, and absolutely love it. I agree with everything said so far (preventive maintenance as well as some other/aesthetic mods), and would only add that, if you haven't heard of it already, start doing your maintenance per Mike Miller's Old School Maintenance Schedule linked below. It is essentially what BMW recommended before they started paying for new-car maintenance, so will keep your 13 year old car running like a top for years to come.

I’ve been looking for this car for years on and off. It’s tough to find them in good condition , manual drives….

Beautiful! I had the the m340i xdrive for a while and enjoyed all the m badges

Love that interior!

I think I want to honor the non M sport nature of the 335i Xdrive.

I also have three brochures from the e90 days. I just took a break from bmw with the 997.2 Porsche back in 2009. In hindsight it was a misstep.

I have had bumpers re-sprayed a few times on newer BMWs. If they are older dailies, I usually don't bother.

BTW, that is my favorite BMW color. Same as my 335is.
