Angry My rear bumper flew off the high way.

So I was just going about my day, everything seemed fine I did hit this pothole pretty hard. When I got home and parked, I got off to admire my car and I saw that my rear bumper was missing. I immediately freaked out and got in my car and went to search for it. It fell off on the high way I was hoping it was somewhat fixable but I’m not too sure it is really scratched and beat up so I just left it there. I didn’t even notice it flew off. I’ll admit I was going pretty fast. Has this happened to anyone? Was my bumper not secure enough? I’m currently looking for a new one but I do not want history to repeat itself…… I will zip tie it as extra precaution and peace of mind.

It’s snapped in multiple places - and screwed in too from what I recall. I suspect someone else was in there before and did a hack job on your car.

Consider in Germany these cars need to sustain 155mph without bumpers flying off…

The bumper slides into place, two screws on top and a few in the wheel wells. It sounds like the previous owner didn't secure it well. It replaced my bumper awhile back and it is an easy DIY but it sounds like the previous owner wasn't paying attention. The picture is from another thread, not my car.

Yikes! That is not un. Luckily, no liability issues with another car. Yeah, either it was tinkered with, missing mounting screws and clips, or previous damage from mounting points at the wheel well. Once that wind caught it, sailed away! Now it will be difficult to ind another one that is color matched, or a repaint. Time consuming.
