N54 emitting white smoke and coolant?
Hi this is my first BMW it is a 2007 BMW e90 with the n54. i bought the car as a no start and towed it home. I got it home replaced the starter and battery and voila it started. After it started I heard the dreaded noise of engine knocking so I went ahead and bought a rod bearing kit from ecs and got to work. I got down there and the connecting rod itself was stretched not allowing the new bearings to fit so I decided to get a new rod and piston. I installed them and then started reassembling with new head gasket and bolts. I did not resurface the head since I didn't think I needed to. Keep in mind before tearing the head and oil pan off the car was still emitting white smoke and coolant. after replacing the head gasket, valve cover gasket, and ofhg I started her up. It sounded ok but had some cel for o2 sensors which didn't matter too much. I am now getting 140 psi across all 6 cylinders. coolant pressure test is holding for a couple of hours. but oil is getting into coolant overflow somehow. and white smoke is still coming out of exhaust with coolant. I did rebuild my turbo with new cartridges so i know its not turbo seals. Could anyone please help me? I'm trying to decide if resurfacing the heads would be worth it and would fix it or not.
